To display the Trends window, either
Choose Monitor
> Trends.
Click View Trends
from the Dashboard.
The Trends window has real-time graphs that display
historical trends. These trends can help you analyze traffic patterns
and identify problems with the switch and individual ports.
Bandwidth Utilization Graph
Packet Error Graph
Inline Power Utilization Graph
Port Utilization Graph
Move the pointer over the bars in the graphs for
the specific percentages.
The graphs show data collected at each system refresh
(up to ten 60-second refresh cycles). To manually refresh the graphs,
click
Refresh on the toolbar. After 10 refresh cycles, the data in
the graphs shifts to the left. Data retrieved from the latest refresh
cycle always appears in the tenth column.
Note Using the Refresh option from your
browser reloads the device manager and clears the graphs. If you want
to update, not clear, the graphs, click
Refresh on the toolbar.

Bandwidth Utilization Graph
The Bandwidth Utilization graph shows the same information
as the Bandwidth Used gauge on the Dashboard. The percentage of utilization
is shown over ten 60-second system refresh cycles. Look for sharp increases
in utilization, which can mean an abnormal condition. For example, a
faulty device can be sending broadcast storms to the switch. For more
information about bandwidth utilization, see Bandwidth Used Gauge.

Packet Error Graph
The Packet Error graph shows the same information
as the Packet Error gauge on the Dashboard. The percentage of packet
errors collected is shown over ten 60-second system refresh cycles.
For more information about packet errors, see Packet Error Gauge.

Inline Power Utilization Graph
The Inline Power Utilization graph is available only
if the switch is an inline power switch. Inline power is also referred
to as Power over Ethernet (PoE). The Catalyst 3550 inline power switches
support pre-standard PoE, which is not compliant with IEEE 802.1af.
This graph shows the same information as the Inline Power Utilization
gauge on the Dashboard. The percentage of power allocated is shown over
10 60-second system refresh cycles. For more information about power
allocation, see Inline Power Utilization Gauge.

Port Utilization Graph
The Port Utilization graph shows the same information
as the Port Utilization graph on the Dashboard. The percentage of packet
errors collected is shown on a per-port basis and for up to ten 60-second
system refresh cycles. For more information about port utilization,
see Port Utilization Graph.
To display the utilization trend for a specific port,
choose a port from the Connected Port list. This list only displays
ports that are connected to another device.
